Be Your Own Biggest Fan

No one is going to care about your goals and dreams as much as YOU do. Let me repeat that one more time for the people in the back: NO ONE is going to care more about YOUR goals and dreams as much as YOU do. Gasp. I know, we’ve got a lot of time and energy to make up for - right.

Rewind back almost ten years ago when I decided to step away from an almost twenty-year career in the same industry. My vision: to create a brand that would leave women feeling better no matter what the interaction. An event, a space, style, personal growth, reading a post like this one. It was a vision that was hard to explain. It wasn’t a traditional career that people could understand. Most importantly (to others apparently) - like how do you make money (let me show you the ways - but where was I?). It didn’t make sense to most people, it was hard to understand and explain, and it was confusing - particularly to a generation who didn’t grow up or have any experience with the online world.

Me? I believed in it - without hesitation. I had decades of education, experience, expertise and drive behind me. And I had me: a force when I decide to go after something. But instead of focusing on all of that I wasted time and energy trying to convince others to be as excited and believe in it as much as I did. 

You know what? They are never going to. Why? Because it’s not their dream - it’s yours. And by definition it’s not possible for them to be as excited and passionate about it because they don’t care as much as you do about it. They care about YOU. They love YOU. They believe in YOU. But the thing - whatever it is you want to go after and do, they are indifferent on. That’s the difference. It’s also why you have to be your own biggest fan, while also not making it about the “thing” but instead YOU. Because those people you are trying to recruit to be your biggest supporters - they already are. You’re just focusing on the wrong thing.

Whatever it is you want, believe in and want to go after in this life - go after it. The people who love, support and cheer you on will be there no matter what it is because YOU are who they believe in.
